Sunday, August 2, 2015
The author of this article is an expert in Jewish-Polish relations as well as very knowledge in the Judaist thoughts and The Judaism in particular. His voice could be considered as an official stance of catholic milieu in the scientific exchange and the   conversation between Jews and Poles... Joseph Margoshes (1866-1955) emigrated to the USA about 1900, and wrote this memoir in Yiddish in 1936. It focuses on the Jewish experience, primarily in the Lwow-Tarnow area, and mostly during 1880-1900. Myths and realities in eastern Europe

Wednesday, May 27, 2015
The author surveys the claims of nations and nationalities in some detail. Unfortunately, he treats all the conflicting claims on a more-or-less coeval basis—as if all the claims had equivalent credibility and support.

I focus on a few items of lasting interest.

A Broad Overview of Judaism. Includes Full Implications of the Hellenization of Jews,

Friday, May 1, 2015
My review is based on the sixth edition, published 1929. This work begins with basic issues surrounding the nature of God, faith, humanity, Israel's mission, etc. It then provides considerable detail on the Jewish feasts. Because so many issues are raised, I only touch on a few of them.

FROM THE CHMIELNICKI PERSECUTION OF THE JEWS IN POLAND

Thursday, April 16, 2015
The following scenario of the 17th-century Khmelnitsky (Chmielnicki) revolt is commonly presented in Ukrainian-Jewish dialogue: The Polish nobility and Jesuits oppressed the Cossacks. Jews were pawns of the nobility. The Jews merely transmitted the orders of the Polish overlords, and then became the innocent victims of Cossack anger over the Polish policies >>more...

Jewish Civilization

Wednesday, February 25, 2015
JEWISH CIVILIZATION is the title of this Polish-language work (review based on original 1943 edition). There is such a wealth of information in this book, by a noted Endek author, that I can only touch on a few topics.

Jewish civilization is of the sacral type, as is Brahmin civilization. (e. g, p. 99, 101, 140, 266). Judaism places sacral law over ethics. (p. 23, pp. 152-154). The main difference between the Brahmin and the Jew is Jewish messianism and the concept of the Chosen People. (p. 140). [To see Koneczny's taxonomy of civilizations, please click on, and read the detailed Peczkis review, of On the Plurality of Civilisations]. The reader should note that Koneczny uses his taxonomy in a typological as well as literal sense. As an example of the former, Bismarck was an example of Byzantine civilization, which had largely replaced Latin civilization in pre-Hitler Germany. (p.362 >>more...

„Polski ruch ludowy wobec Żydów (1895-1939)”

Thursday, October 17, 2013
