Ukrainian Fascism (OUN-UPA): Genocide of Jews and Poles (1941-1947)

Friday, October 30, 2009
The list author says: "Fascism...genocide...collaboration...The OUN, a group of Ukrainian fascists (whose eventual goal was a totalitarian, ethnically-pure pan-Ukrainian empire) sought a Ukrainian-Nazi puppet state. Never promised it, they blindly collaborated with the Nazis in the genocide of Jews, and then killed 180,000-300,000 Poles (limited only by Polish defenses) and thousands of independent-minded Ukrainians. >>more...

Ethnic Cleansing in Twentieth Century Europe(revue)

Friday, October 30, 2009
A Comprehensive Though Germanocentric Work: Includes the WWII Ukrainian-Fascist OUN-UPA Genocide of Poles, October 27, 2009 This extensive anthology is broad-based, with chapters on many different acts of ethnic cleansing and genocide. We learn that the Iroquois annihilated the Hurons and then attempted the same against the French. (Dreisziger, pp. 47-49). In the Boer War, British concentration camps held 116,000 Afrikaners (30,000 died) and 100,000 blacks (14,000 died). (Tooley, p. 73). Let's keep things in perspective. Tooley writes: "As noted, the Soviet regime cleansed more ethnic groups than any regime in history." (p. 87). >>more...

The Warsaw Ghetto and Holocaust from a Religious-Jewish Perspective

Friday, September 4, 2009
This work is rich in Jewish terminology, traditional Jewish ideation, and cries to God and man for deliverance during the unfolding Holocaust. In contrast to most Holocaust-era diaries, it also offers an unusual amount of biographical detail on the leading Jewish secular and especially religious leaders of the time. Many interesting details are provided, such as the debate as to whether Polish Jews were the descendants of Khazars, or of erstwhile German Jews that had lived along the Rhine. (p. 110). >>more...

A Pre-Holocaust Jewish View of German-Nazi Occupied Poland

Friday, September 4, 2009
Because this fact-filled book was written just before the Holocaust, it escaped coloration by it. Quoting from the ECONOMIST about German attitudes towards the untermenschen, Segal wrote: “The Nazis appear to regard the Polish race in rather the same way they regard the Jews. Unlike the blood of the Scandinavians or the Anglo-Saxons, the blood of the Poles is not only negatively inferior in that it is not German, it is positively pernicious. The Poles cannot by losing their separate racial consciousness become merged in the Germanic blood stream. They must be rejected by the healthy Teutonic body as the Jews are rejected.” (pp. 74-75). >>more...

The Bravest Battle: The Twenty-eight Days Of The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising

Monday, August 17, 2009
The author includes a day-to-day account of the Uprising, and his bibliography is very extensive. He factors the ZZW as well as the ZOB, and gives seldom-mentioned credit to Polish-gentile fighters such as Wolinski and Iwanski, who admittedly are not usually appreciated. (p. 348). WARNING: The descriptions of German cruelties may upset sensitive readers >>more...

Jewish Resistance During the Holocaust: Proceedings of the Conference on Manifestations of Jewish Resistance, Jerusalem, April 7-11, 1968

Holocaust ;Fail to rescue

Sunday, August 2, 2009
Aid to European Jewry during the Second World War can only be dealt with in the context of the general war aims of the Allies. At all times the main concern of Britain and France, and then the United States, was the preservation of their empires and the capitalist system. The Soviet Union had no quarrel with this vision, except where its own troops actually penetrated Central Europe. London and Paris entered the war on the defensive, fearing both victory and defeat: the First World War had led to the collapse of four empires and the rise of Communism.   >>more...

The Holocaust

Sunday, August 2, 2009
The Holocaust was unprecedented, but now the precedent is there. One of the horrible lessons of the Holocaust is that it can happen again, it happened to a certain extent in Rwanda, East Timor and in Kosovo. The only way for us to relay the horrors of what happened,  its significance and to keep this from ever happening again is through "honest"  and universal education.

When you study the Holocaust, you are studying the highest level of organized hate in the history of mankind. Studying the rise of the Nazis, their extermination of the Jew's, the Roma's, the Jehovah's Witnesses and other "undesirables" is an exploration into how ordinary people canbe led into committing the ultimate horror  - genocide. "The Nazis victimized some people for what they did, some for what they refused to do, some for what they were, and some for the fact that they were." John Conway >>more...

The Ignored Collaboration

Sunday, August 2, 2009
I did not want to take part in the discussion caused by the publication of Prof. Jan t Gross's book "Neighbors" which deals with the murder of Jews committed in July 1941 in the town of Jedwabne in the Podlasie area. Primarily because the said discussion, picking up various motifs, has been so far bypassing the most important fact, i, e., what has happened in Jedwabne after the entry of the German army into that territory, that is, who, when and under what circumstances committed the mass murder on the Jewish inhabitants of Jedwabne >>more...
