Tajemnice dogmatów zjawiska zwanego religią holocaustu

Saturday, October 17, 2015
>>more...

he Course of the Holocaust

Sunday, October 11, 2015
This review is based on the 1982 edition. This book traces the Holocaust from early anti-Jewish teachings, the emergence of racial anti-Semitism, the rise of Nazi ideology, the decision to murder the Jews, the implementation of the Holocaust, rescue attempts, Jewish resistance, theological and philosophical implications, etc. Bauer soundly repudiates any notion of the German death camps being erected in German-occupied Poland because of the presumed anti-Semitism of the local population (p. 210). It was simply a matter of practicality. >>more...

Black Earth: The Holocaust as History and Warning

improved revue
The informed reader, familiar with Holocaust-related works, will quickly notice that much of what Snyder discusses has already been said before by other authors, and even by Snyder in his earlier books. I generally focus on the new content. Unfortunately, there are many flaws in this book (whence my two-star rating), and I later discuss a few of them >>more...

The Scholarly and Public Reception of the Holocaust

Friday, September 11, 2015
The reader may erroneously get the impression that this book is primarily about the trivialization of the Holocaust, or a retreat from its moral gravity. Such themes are only a modest portion of this book. Most of it is about how the Holocaust has been treated by academia and the media, little of which involves a softening or trivialization of Nazi crimes. A good deal of it is about how Germans try to relativize the crimes of their forebears. >>more...

Polish undergroung and Jews 1939-1945

Tuesday, August 4, 2015
The sophisticated reader who is looking for something new--a book that candidly addresses both sides of Polish-Jewish antagonisms--can stop right here. It does not. It continues the standard Jewish-wrongdoing-denialism approach. [My review is based on an online version, and the pagination used below does not correspond to the pagination of the printed version of this book.] >>more...
