Patterns of Cooperation, Collaboration and Betrayal: Jews, Germans and Poles in Occupied Poland during World War II

Thursday, February 18, 2010
Collaboration with the Germans in occupied Poland is a topic that has not been adequately explored by historians.
2 Holocaust literature has dwelled almost exclusively on the conduct of Poles toward Jews and has often arrived at sweeping and unjustified conclusions. At the same time, with a few notable exceptions such as Isaiah Trunk
3 and Raul Hilberg,
4 whose findings confirmed what Hannah Arendt had written about. >>more...

Marek Edelman, the last surviving leader of the ghetto revolt.

Germans Create a Ghetto in Warsaw Jews and Poles Are Forcibly Relocated

[February 6, 1940]: The acts of violence carried out in public against Jews are arousing in religious Poles [literally, “in the Polish population, which is fundamentally pious (or God-fearing)”] not only the deepest disgust but also a great sense of pity for the Jewish population. >>more...

Izrael a Polska: narodowi judaiści, syjoniści i reszta

Monday, February 15, 2010
Jest on znanym działaczem pokojowym, byłym oficerem spadochroniarzy. >>more...

Grecka Tragedia

Monday, February 15, 2010
Ratowanie słabej gospodarki Grecji podstawowo zmienia charakter Unii Europejskiej. >>more...

In beginning with his teenage years in pre-WWII Poland, Lando wrote: "I have not experienced anti-Semitism personally, but in Poland it was tangible." (p. 21). This is in reference to "occasional reports in the papers" of incidents. So Lando joins the ranks of those Polish Jews to whom anti-Semitism was something that happened to someone else, adding refutation to the premise that Polish anti-Semitism had been a constant and inevitable companion of Polish Jews >>more...
